Wisdom Teeth Extractions

Wisdom tooth extraction is a surgical procedure to remove one or more wisdom teeth. Wisdom teeth are the four permanent adult teeth located at the back corners of your mouth on the top and bottom. This procedure may be performed by a dentist or an oral surgeon.

Wisdom teeth emerge years after all other teeth are in place, and sometimes do not have enough room to fit in our mouths properly. If a wisdom tooth doesn’t have room to grow, it can become impacted, crowding other teeth and causing a chipped or broken tooth, and can result in pain, infection or other dental problems. In this case, you’ll likely need to have your wisdom teeth taken out.

In order to prevent potential future problems, some dentists and oral surgeons recommend wisdom tooth extraction even if impacted teeth aren’t currently causing problems.
